How cheap energy storage and decentralisation will transform Czech energy

The era of traditionally centrally controlled energy systems is coming to an end.  Thanks to the sharp decline in prices of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and lower investment costs for new large-scale photovoltaic power plants (PV) below CZK 20,000/kWp, a new era of decentralised energy is arriving in the Czech Republic.

Thanks to new “European legislation”, companies and citizens will soon be able to trade, store or share their electricity with one another.

Where to find inspiration?

Leading international and domestic experts will discuss new trends, developments, legislative changes and technological innovations in energy storage and photovoltaics at the Smart Energy Forum (SEF) conference and exhibition on 6-7 November 2018 in Prague. For the first time this year, the conference will feature a leading global expert in energy storage – Dr.Matthias Vetter,  head of the energy storage department at Germany's renowned Fraunhofer ISE institute. In his presentation at the Smart Energy Forum energy storage conference in Prague on 6 November, Dr Vetter will focus on the safety of energy storage systems for PV applications.

A new generation of photovoltaic panels is coming to market, capable not only of monitoring output but also of remotely identifying potential problems. At the Smart Energy Forum photovoltaic conference on 7 November, Stuart Brannigan, chief executive of AEG Solar Solutions, will speak about the benefits of the new panel technology.

The largest exhibition of home battery systems

The “forum” includes the largest exhibition of homebattery systems, photovoltaic panels and other solutions for the energy self-sufficiency of companies and households. More than 40 domestic and international manufacturers offer exhibition visitors the opportunity for free consultations.

For the public, admission to the exhibition is FREE. Online registration is required.

The event also offers free test drives in electric vehicles (TESLA, Nissan, etc.). The new Jaguar I-PACE electric car will make its Czech debut here.
