Czech solar plants have already surpassed last year's output and are on course to reach an important milestone

Solar power plants in Czechia had generated more electricity by the beginning of October than in the whole of last year. However, their year-on-year generation is growing more slowly than last year. The increase in newly installed capacity, according to licences granted, was almost the same in the first three quarters. New large solar power plants are also beginning to make a more significant impact in the statistics.
Solar power plants in Czechia generated around 4.75 terawatt-hours of electricity by 6 October 2026, according to ENTSO-E statistics, compared with approximately 4.71 TWh for the whole of 2025. The difference is still small, but significant. Their output exceeded last year's full-year generation before the end of October.
Last year's result was a marked improvement on 2024, when solar PV plants generated around 3.91 TWh. Full-year generation thus increased by approximately a fifth year on year. Growth has been more moderate so far this year: by 6 October, output was about 11 percent higher than on the same date in 2025.
