Panasonic opens an eight-billion-crown heat pump plant in Plzen, Czechia

Japanese corporation Panasonic today opened a new CZK 8 billion manufacturing complex in Plzen to produce heat pumps. The modern complex, which also includes a research and development centre, will be capable of producing up to 1.4 million indoor and outdoor heat pump units for the European market from 2030. Panasonic Heating & Ventilation Air-Conditioning Czech CEO Tecumasa Mizuta said this at the official opening.

Panasonic has operated in the Borska Pole industrial zone since 1996, when it became the first Japanese investor in the Czech Republic to start manufacturing televisions there, a production line it ended in March 2022. It began manufacturing heat pumps in Plzen in 2018, alongside television production. The new complex has nearly tripled Panasonic's production area in Plzen to 140.000 square metres.
