ČEPS commissions Czech V403/803 double-circuit line

ČEPS has completed the project to build a double-circuit V403/803 line, which runs through the Olomouc, Zlín and Moravian-Silesian regions. The aim was to increase the line’s transmission capacity and strengthen the security and reliability of electricity supplies in these regions.
The project, “V403/803 – construction of a double-circuit line”, was carried out along the section between the Prosenice substation in the Olomouc Region and the Nošovice substation in the Moravian-Silesian Region. The new 400kV line is largely routed along the existing route of the original line and is 79,5 km long. The total cost of the project is approximately three billion Kč.
„The new double-circuit line ensures the security and reliability of electricity transmission in the Olomouc, Zlín and Moravian-Silesian regions, with greater transmission capacity than the original line,“ said Karel Slončík, a member of the ČEPS board responsible for the Transmission System Management, Operation and Maintenance division.
As part of the project to build a second circuit on the V403 line, which was built in 1959, the towers, including their foundations, phase conductors, earth wires and insulator strings were completely replaced during 2023–2024. The completed V403/803 line comprises 248 towers of the Dunaj and Soudek types.
The new line was permanently commissioned on 7. 10. 2024, with some painting of the tower structures due to be completed in 2025.
