Czechia again had the EU's highest household electricity prices in the second half of last year

Household electricity prices in the Czech Republic were again the highest in the European Union in the second half of last year when measured by the purchasing power standard (PPS), the EU's statistical office Eurostat announced today. The PPS is a common currency that eliminates differences in price levels between countries, allowing them to be compared. Prices in Czechia amounted to 41 PPS per 100 kilowatt-hours, followed by Cyprus at 35,70 PPS and Germany at 35,23 PPS.
The purchasing power standard is calculated by dividing an amount in a national currency by its purchasing power parity. In a separate announcement, Eurostat also reported gas prices. These were highest for households in the EU in Portugal, at 16,60 PPS per 100 kilowatt-hours. In Czechia, the figure was 12,78 PPS.
