Polish court rejects extradition to Germany of man suspected of Nord Stream attack

A Polish court has rejected the extradition to Germany of a Ukrainian suspected of taking part in the damage to the Baltic Sea gas pipeline Nord Stream in 2022. It also ordered his release from custody, according to the Polish Press Agency PAP. Police arrested Volodymyr Zhuravlov near Warsaw in late September on the basis of a European arrest warrant issued by a German court. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk recently said the decision on the man's extradition was up to the court, but that extraditing him was not in the Polish government's interest. Today, Tusk called the court's decision correct.

Judge Dariusz Lubowski found that Germany's extradition request was not sufficiently substantiated.
