Low-income households in Czechia's Vysočina Region can apply for boiler grants only until 31 August

Households on lower incomes in the Vysočina Region can apply for a contribution towards replacing an old boiler with a new one only until the end of August. The final grant round has been open since last September, and applications have picked up recently. While an average of around 30 applications came in each month in the first few months after the call was announced, applicants submitted more than 100 in July. At the end of last month, the region had recorded 430 applications; the funds had not been exhausted. This is according to a press release issued today on the region's website.
„The region secured a total of 103 million crowns for the final grant round, enough to support more than 575 applications,“ said Deputy Governor Hana Hajnová (Pirates).
Home and apartment owners on low incomes can receive a grant to replace manually fed solid-fuel boilers below emission class 3, which may no longer be used for heating from September. Applicants can use the contribution to buy a biomass boiler or a heat pump.
The boiler replacement grant programme for households was launched by the Ministry of the Environment with the aim of improving air quality in the country. Residents of the Vysočina Region could first apply for a grant at the regional authority in January 2016. Since then, the region has paid out 925 million crowns, enabling households to replace more than 8500 old boilers with more environmentally friendly heating sources. The last two grant rounds were aimed at residents on low incomes. In the first, 788 applicants were awarded contributions, and the region distributed 116 million crowns among them.
