US LNG exports hit new record in November, with Europe the largest buyer

Exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States rose to a new record high of 10.9 million tonnes in November, up from 10.1 million tonnes in October. Colder weather contributed to the increase. Reuters reported the figures, citing data from financial company LSEG. Europe remained the largest buyer of US LNG.
LNG deliveries from the United States to Europe totalled 7.5 million tonnes in November. Europe’s share of total US LNG exports thus rose to 70 percent from 69 percent in October, Reuters reports.

The United States is now the world’s largest exporter of liquefied natural gas. In October, it became the first country to export more than ten million tonnes of LNG in a single month.
Imports from the United States have helped the European Union cope with disruptions to Russian gas supplies following the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The EU plans to end all imports of Russian gas by 2027.
