Interfax: Russia to restrict diesel exports through year-end and extend gasoline export ban

Russia will partially restrict diesel exports through the end of the year and extend its existing ban on gasoline exports. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said this today, according to Interfax. Some Russian regions are facing fuel shortages as Ukraine has stepped up drone attacks on Russian refineries, Reuters reported.
"We will soon extend the ban on gasoline exports through the end of the year, and a ban on diesel exports by non-producers will also be introduced through the end of the year," Interfax quoted Novak as saying.
"This will allow us to continue supplying the market with oil products," he added.
While the diesel export ban applies to sellers but not producers, the gasoline export ban applies to both producers and sellers. It does not, however, affect intergovernmental agreements between Russia and a number of other countries, such as Mongolia.

Moscow exports large quantities of the oil used to produce gasoline.
