Czech energy regulator to adjust high- and very-high-voltage tariffs from January, aiming to free up grid capacity

The Energy Regulatory Office (ERÚ) will adjust the tariff structure for high-voltage (HV) and very-high-voltage (EHV) networks from next year. The changes are intended to free up as much as 3300 megawatts (MW) of capacity in the grids, equivalent to 15 percent of the systems’ capacity. The regulator expects the adjustments to curb unnecessary investment, which could reduce spending on regulated charges by up to three billion crowns a year in the future. ERÚ Chairman Jan Šefránek presented the changes to journalists today.
High- and very-high-voltage networks typically serve large electricity consumers, including companies and power plants, rather than households.
