Applications open for financial support for energy-efficient home renovations under Czechia’s New Green Savings programme

Applications are now open for household financial support for energy-efficient home renovations under the New Green Savings programme (NZÚ). This long-running programme brings two main changes this year: all applicants will receive the money upfront, and all projects involving insulation will be eligible for a preferential loan, the Ministry of the Environment said. The new call for applications opens today and will run until 20 February next year.
„Building on the success of the renovation wave to date, we are improving the terms of the New Green Savings programme. The main change is that renovations to family homes will now be accessible to households that had put them off because they lacked the funds for the initial investment,“ said Environment Minister Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL).
According to the ministry, the programme will be simplified into two main parts – Renovate Grandma’s House, focused on comprehensive renovations, and New Green Savings Light, which covers individual upgrades.

The Renovate Grandma’s House programme focuses on comprehensive renovations, with an emphasis on quality insulation, and builds on the previous support model. Applicants can receive up to one million crowns for insulation, as well as additional financial contributions for installing renewable energy sources, replacing inadequate heating systems, smart ventilation and other energy-saving upgrades. The enhanced support for families with dependent children remains in place, but applicants no longer need to provide proof of employment or other economic activity.
Under the New Green Savings Light programme, households can apply for support for individual renovations separately or combine them. Grants of up to 500,000 crowns can be used, for example, for partial home insulation, window and door replacement, installation of residential solar photovoltaic systems or replacement of environmentally harmful heat sources.
Applications must be submitted entirely online through the State Environmental Fund (SFŽP) AIS system, using a bank identity. Decisions on grants are usually issued within a few weeks, typically within a month. The programme is funded by the Modernisation Fund, which uses revenue from emissions allowances and whose resources are earmarked exclusively for reducing the carbon footprint.
