Czech grid operator ČEPS takes part in Safeguard Čebín 2022 exercise

The main objective of the Safeguard Čebín 2022 exercise was to assess the preparedness of the Active Reserve infantry company and the staff of the Brno Regional Military Command (KVV) to carry out territorial protection and defence tasks while guarding the substation. Another objective was to verify cooperation with ČEPS, EG.D and the components of the Integrated Rescue System of the South Moravian Region. The soldiers practised checking vehicles entering the site and responding to emergency situations.

“Safeguard Čebín 2022 is already the third joint exercise of this type this year that we have organised at our substations together with the Czech Army and other partners. I am very pleased that in this case as well, we confirmed our excellent cooperation in dealing with an emergency situation,”

“We are constantly seeking to improve and strengthen the protection of our facilities, which are part of the country’s critical infrastructure, not only on our own but also in cooperation with other partners. This includes joint exercises such as Safeguard Čebín 2022. This was already the second similar exercise we took part in this year. Like the spring event in Otrokovice, this one provided us with useful information and practical experience and confirmed the excellent cooperation with the other entities involved,” adds Bohdan Důbrava, Head of High- and Low-Voltage Network Administration and a member of EG.D’s crisis staff leadership.

“Today’s globalised world is not safe, and it is necessary to prepare adequately to ensure the functioning of key elements of critical infrastructure, which is one of the tasks of the Active Reserve Infantry Company of the Brno Regional Military Command. I am pleased that, in cooperation with ČEPS and EG.D, we were able to practise activities to fulfil this task in the event of a crisis or an attempt to disrupt the functioning of these elements,” added Col. GS Alois Matýzka, Director of the Brno Regional Military Command.
