Today's Czech Wind Day offers a glimpse inside wind turbines and mills

Seven wind farms in Czechia will open to the public today as part of an event called Wind Day. Visitors can join guided tours and learn how wind turbines work, as well as get a look inside their towers. Alongside modern wind farms, some historic windmills will also be open today. A list of participating sites is available on the event website, hosted by the Czech Wind Energy Association.
The wind farms will be open today from 10:00 to 16:00. Visitors can see, for example, the most modern wind turbines in Sádek near Dívčí Hrad in the Bruntál region, or the first wind turbines in the Czech Republic with concrete towers, in Vrbice near Valeč in the Karlovy Vary Region.

At the wind turbine near the village of Vítězná in the Trutnov area, visitors can take a virtual tour of the turbine's nacelle, including a view from its machinery room overlooking the panorama of the Krkonoše Mountains. A virtual climb to the top of the tower is also available in Věžnice in the Havlíčkův Brod area.
There are currently more than 200 wind turbines in Czechia. Last year, they supplied one percent of the electricity consumed in the country, with their share having stagnated in recent years. Across Europe, wind power's share of electricity consumption rose to 20 percent last year.
