Czech President Pavel discusses possible oil and gas supply sources with energy companies in the US

Houston (USA), July 13 (CTK special correspondent) – Czech President Petr Pavel met representatives of energy companies in Houston, USA, on Friday. They discussed options for alternative oil and gas supplies from non-Russian sources, he told reporters there.
„We wanted to discuss with them issues related to our energy security and options for alternative oil and gas supplies from non-Russian sources,“ Pavel said.
The Czech delegation held talks with representatives of companies including Chevron and ExxonMobil.
They discussed how the companies view the further development of oil production and gas production around the world, and whether there are opportunities to increase US gas production to meet demand, including Czech consumption. „The responses were positive,“ the president noted. „We exchanged contact details and laid the groundwork for further talks, in which experts from the companies will sit down and look at the possibility of concluding a long-term contract that would ensure the Czech Republic’s energy security over a longer period,“ Pavel added.
On Friday, after a discussion on the NATO summit hosted by the US think tank Atlantic Council, Pavel also visited NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
According to the president, the Czech side sought information not only about how flight operations are managed, but also about the involvement of Czech companies. „Despite its size, the Czech Republic is doing very well in space research. It is involved not only in projects run by the European Space Agency, but also, through the agency, in NASA projects,“ he said.
Pavel then met the leadership of the Texas and Nebraska National Guards. The Czech military works closely with both, which the president said benefits both sides. „We are now in a position to share our expertise with our American colleagues, while also contributing together to the training of the armed forces of other countries that may not yet have as many contacts or as much experience,“ the president added.
