Czech companies can apply for wind farm subsidies, with CZK 3 billion available

Czech companies can apply for subsidies to build wind farms starting today. The subsidy call, announced by the Agency for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (API), will remain open until the end of October 2025 and offers CZK 3 billion. The maximum subsidy per company and project is 30 million euros (750 million crowns). API announced the details in a press release today.
„We believe there will be strong demand from businesses for wind farm projects, particularly at a time of volatile energy prices. Companies can thus help reduce the Czech Republic’s energy dependence on imports from abroad and on limited domestic fossil fuels, strengthening our self-sufficiency in electricity supplies,“ said API Director General Jan Piskáček.
The subsidy call, funded by European Union structural funds, is aimed at small, medium-sized and large companies. The level of support varies according to company size. Small companies can receive reimbursement of up to 65 percent of eligible costs, medium-sized companies 55 percent and large companies 45 percent. There is no limit on the number of applications a company can submit.
Companies can build the wind farms for which they are seeking subsidies anywhere in Czechia except Prague. Subsidised farms must be completed by the end of November 2027. API has published details of the call on its website.
According to a report by the Energy Regulatory Office (ERÚ), wind power generated 701 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity in Czechia last year. The largest shares came from wind farms in the Ústí nad Labem, Karlovy Vary and Liberec regions. Wind farms cover roughly one percent of domestic electricity consumption, compared with a European Union average of 19 percent. The government wants to increase the share of electricity generated from wind in the future.
