Czech wind farm project near Vojtěchov receives approval

The wind farm project near Vojtěchov in the Chrudim region is moving towards implementation. The Pardubice Regional Authority has issued a favourable unified environmental opinion to the investor, NOHO Energy, ČTK found on the regional authority’s official noticeboard. It also covers the construction of a 35-kilovolt (kV) electricity connection and a switching station, and is a condition for the issuance of a building permit.

The company wants to build five wind turbines, some of which could be the tallest in Czechia. Their total installed capacity could reach up to 36 megawatts (MW), and they would stand east of Vojtěchov outside the built-up area. The proposed turbines range in height from 112 to 169 metres, with blade lengths of 81 to 87.5 metres. An underground cable is planned to connect the wind farm to the distribution grid. The project is not subject to an EIA environmental impact assessment.

Construction of one wind turbine, from excavation and concreting the foundations to installing and assembling all components, takes approximately four months. Before final approval, it will have to undergo six months of trial operation. If construction begins this year, the turbines should start operating by the end of 2028, according to earlier information.

Vojtěchov residents supported the project in a poll. The municipality’s council then approved an agreement supporting the plan. Vojtěchov also agreed with the investor on a preferential electricity price for residents and annual contributions to the municipality.
