Residents of Krouna and Anenská Studánka in Czechia vote today on new wind turbines

Local referendums on the construction of wind turbines will be held today in two municipalities in the Pardubice Region. The turbines could be built near Krouna, in the Františky area of the Chrudim region, and near Anenská Studánka, in the Ústí nad Orlicí region. Each project has a different investor.

PV Consulting wants to build a wind turbine with a capacity of up to 6.5 megawatts (MW) near Krouna. It is offering the municipality 300.000 crowns per year for each installed MW of capacity, and residents electricity supplies at 3.3 crowns per kilowatt-hour, excluding VAT. Residents will answer the question: „Do you agree that the authorities of the municipality of Krouna should allow one wind turbine to be located on municipal plot no. 1/5 in the cadastral area of Františky?“.

NOHO Energy wants to generate wind power in Anenská Studánka. Several wind turbines already stand near the municipality; they were built there 15 years ago by S&M CZ. Residents are being asked: „Do you agree with the construction of wind turbines in the municipality of Anenská Studánka and with concluding a cooperation agreement with the municipality on a joint project with NOHO Energy?“.

There are also plans to build wind turbines near Vojtěchov in the Chrudim region and Stašov in the Svitavy region. ČEZ Renewable Sources wants to build another ten to 20 turbines in the Svitavy and Ústí nad Orlicí regions.

The largest wind turbine in the region to date, with a capacity of 4.2 MW, was built this year by S&M CZ near Žipotín in the Svitavy region. It replaced one of the turbines that had stood there since 2006. This made the permitting process simpler, and the project did not require an environmental impact assessment (EIA).
