ČEPS employees in Czechia vote to award over half a million crowns to charity projects for third time

In December 2023, ČEPS held the third edition of its ČEPS Generous Days charity event in cooperation with the Association of Social Responsibility. Employees voted on which three selected non-profit organisations would each receive a donation of 150 000 Kč. They also made individual contributions through payroll deductions.
Throughout December, employees could learn about ten selected projects that took part in the Giving Tuesday initiative and met the requirements of the ČEPS Donation Programme. The call focused on charitable and social assistance, support for people with disabilities and people in difficult life situations.
“I am very pleased that this year’s ČEPS Generous Days project attracted such wide interest among the company’s employees. Thanks to their votes, financial support will go to organisations that do professional work in areas that are often overlooked,” says Hana Klímová, Director of Communications.
The internal vote selected Zdravotní klaun, an organisation that helps children in particular, as well as seniors, get through the treatment process with a smile. Its mission is to bring joy, good spirits and hope to places where they are in short supply.
In second place, employees selected LOCIKA Centre. The organisation helps children who experience domestic violence, whether as direct victims or witnesses. It protects the child’s interests and provides expert support to children and their parents, with the aim of fostering healthy family relationships.
The other organisation to receive an award is DEBRA ČR, which supports people with butterfly skin disease. It provides free expert advice, shares information about the disease and treatment options, connects patients and their families from across the Czech Republic, and also offers material assistance. It works closely with a team of specialists at the clinical EB Centre at Brno University Hospital.
In addition to voting, employees could make personal donations of any amount to ten other organisations. Altogether, they donated 58 900 Kč to charity.
“We have been working with ČEPS as part of Giving Tuesday for several years, and the latest edition was no exception. We also saw a record amount raised, as well as a record number of appeals and good deeds in the history of Giving Tuesday in Czechia. I am delighted that interest in ČEPS’s appeal was also a record. The grant is often truly crucial for these projects and will help them multiply the support they provide to those most in need,” says Lucie Mádlová, founder and director of the Association of Social Responsibility.
The World Day of Generosity and Good Deeds, known as Giving Tuesday, has been organised in the Czech Republic for the eighth year under the auspices of the Association of Social Responsibility, the country’s largest initiative focused on corporate social responsibility and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Giving Tuesday was established to celebrate helping others, doing good deeds and supporting one another.
ČEPS is aware not only of its prominent position in the Czech electricity sector, but also of its important role in corporate social responsibility. The company’s CSR activities focus primarily on social assistance, support for technical education and energy literacy, regional culture, the development of sport for children, young people and people with disabilities, and humanitarian aid.
