The hard coal price on this page is the API 2 hard coal price index. The API 2 price assessment is the main price reference for physical and over-the-counter contracts for coal trading in north-west Europe (ARA). In coal trading, the abbreviation ARA stands for the cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp. For the purposes of the hard coal price, this abbreviation denotes the delivery location, i.e. delivery to any of the three ports.
