Schillerová (ANO): Czech government to meet three times before Christmas, energy first

According to ANO deputy chair Alena Schillerová, the government will meet on Monday after its appointment and then again on Tuesday 16 December and Monday 22 December. It will first address energy prices, with the state now set to cover charges for renewable energy sources. She said this at today's press conference.

"One of the first things we will do will be to reduce the regulated component of energy prices," Schillerová said.

According to her, the change will reduce energy prices by around ten percent within several weeks.

In November, she said that shifting renewable energy charges from customers to the state would cost the state budget 17 to 18 billion crowns next year. The emerging government of ANO, SPD and the Motorists intends to obtain the money through reallocations within budget chapters, while it wants to abolish the charges for both companies and households.

After its appointment on Monday morning, the government will head to Straka Academy for its first technical meeting. At the meeting, the cabinet will probably assign a portfolio to Boris Šťastný, the Motorists' minister without portfolio, who will become minister for sport, prevention and health. After the press conference, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) will formally install the ministers in their posts one by one until the evening.
