Czech Industry Ministry to allocate CZK 200 million for municipal and corporate energy savings

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO) has begun accepting applications for energy-saving grants. It has CZK 200 million available for municipalities and companies under two funding calls. Applications may be submitted until the middle of next year. The aim is to reduce energy costs. The ministry announced this today in a press release.

„Energy savings will play a key role in the future development of our energy sector, especially in the context of decarbonisation. We have therefore prepared two calls under the National Recovery Plan that will help municipalities and companies prepare comprehensive energy strategies and carry out an initial energy management analysis. This will enable them to optimise and assess their energy consumption over the long term, leading to lower costs,“ said Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Síkela (STAN).

The funding call for municipalities is intended for the preparation of a local energy strategy, which should optimise energy consumption in a given locality. Small municipalities with up to 5,000 inhabitants will be able to receive a maximum of 450.000 crowns, larger municipalities with up to 10,000 inhabitants half a million crowns, and municipalities with more than 10,000 inhabitants up to 550.000 crowns. The ministry has allocated 150 million crowns for municipalities. According to the authority, the grant may be used to finance both the costs of preparing the strategy and, for example, printing or graphic design costs.

The second call will focus on introducing an energy management system and is intended to help companies and municipalities reduce operating costs. It will also include an initial analysis of properties to identify potential energy measures. Energy management can help businesses and municipalities identify potential energy losses, optimise energy consumption and thereby reduce their costs. „Under this call, we are financing the preparation of basic documents, the definition of processes and the costs of preparing and developing a system for monitoring and assessing energy consumption. We have 50 million crowns available,“ said Ján Čiampor, director of energy efficiency and savings.
