After overnight storms, around 2,000 households in the Chrudim region still without power

As a result of storms in the Pardubice Region, around 2000 households in the Chrudim region are currently without power. During the night, there were around 11.000 across the entire region. Šárka Lapáčková Beránková, spokesperson for the ČEZ Group in eastern Bohemia, told ČTK. Energy workers are currently repairing faults on three high-voltage lines. Intense storms hit the region mainly on Wednesday afternoon and evening, but storms are also occurring today.

Four faults occurred on high-voltage lines in the Pardubice Region overnight due to strong winds and storms. Around 11.000 households were without electricity in the Chrudim, Pardubice and Svitavy areas, with others also affected in the Ústí nad Orlicí area.

Firefighters also had plenty of work. By midnight, they had responded to 24 incidents, removing fallen trees and branches. In the village of Zrnětín in the Svitavy area, a lime tree with a diameter of approximately 110 centimetres fell onto the roof of a family house. Elsewhere, a tree fell onto parked cars.
