New green savings opens applications: subsidies of up to 400 thousand crowns for vulnerable households

The New Green Savings programme (NZÚ) is opening applications for energy-efficient home renovations today at 10:00. Direct subsidies are intended exclusively for vulnerable households under the NZÚ Light programme. In cooperation with the financial sector, the ministry is offering other households interest-free loans for partial as well as comprehensive renovations. The Ministry of the Environment said in a press release. Applications will be accepted until 31 October or until the allocation is exhausted.

Vulnerable households can apply for a direct subsidy of up to 400.000 crowns. Other owners of family homes, homeowners' associations and housing cooperatives can submit projects and, if approved, draw an interest-free loan.

From autumn, owners will then be able to obtain loans from banks and building societies of up to two million crowns for a family home and 750.000 crowns for one apartment in an apartment building. The repayment period will depend on the type of building and the scope of the renovation, ranging from ten to 25 years.

As in previous phases, applicants for a subsidy or interest-free loan will submit their applications electronically via the zadosti.sfzp.cz portal. Preparation of renovation projects should be preceded by a consultation with an NZÚ energy adviser. The full application conditions can be found on the novazelenausporam.cz website.

In the past, the programme provided subsidies to all households. Now, only economically vulnerable households are eligible for direct subsidies. Thanks to interest-free loans, the state will cover all interest and related fees, according to Environment Minister Igor Červený (Motorists), so households will repay only the amount borrowed

According to Červený, the Ministry of the Environment decided to use interest-free loans in order to ensure continuous support from the programme. Last November, the ministry ended NZÚ prematurely due to high demand for subsidies and the rapid depletion of funds.
